Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 July 2026
We collect as little as we can, use it only to bring our family together, and never sell it.
This policy explains how SEAKIN (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles your information when you join our pre-launch waitlist at weareseakin.com. SEAKIN is operated by 13310906 Canada Inc., the data controller responsible for your information. If you have any questions, please use our contact form.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist or take part in our referral, we collect:
- Your email address — so we can tell you when SEAKIN launches.
- Referral information — the unique invitation code we generate for you, the code of whoever invited you (if you arrived through an invitation link), and the number of prize-draw entries you’ve earned.
- Approximate country — the country your visit came from, derived from your connection. We store the country only; we do not store your full IP address in our database.
- Date and time you joined.
- Designer suggestions — if you use “Introduce Us to Kin”, we store what you submit (for example a designer, maker, or brand’s name, Instagram, website, or island), together with your invitation code and approximate country.
Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) also processes standard technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site securely and to protect it from spam and abuse.
How we use your information
- To send you news about the SEAKIN launch and, if enabled, a welcome email containing your personal invitation link.
- To run our referral prize draw — tracking entries and contacting winners.
- To understand, in aggregate, where interest in SEAKIN is coming from.
- To discover Caribbean designers, makers, and brands you tell us about.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent bots and spam sign-ups.
Our legal bases
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we rely on:
- Consent — for sending you marketing email about our launch. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing, with no effect on emails already sent.
- Legitimate interests — for operating the referral draw, keeping the site secure, and understanding interest at a country level. We balance these against your rights.
- Your voluntary submission — when you choose to suggest a designer, maker, or brand.
Cookies and tracking
SEAKIN uses no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking or analytics tags. Our referral system is entirely first-party: it works from a code in the invitation link, not from tracking you across the web. Cloudflare, our host, may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the site secure and to tell humans apart from bots.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers. We share it only with service providers who help us run SEAKIN:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, our database, and sending transactional email on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
International transfers
Our provider operates a global network, so your information may be processed on servers outside your country, including outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you’re on our waitlist — through launch and for a reasonable period afterwards — or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Removing your details on request is straightforward.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, reach us through our contact form and we’ll respond within the time the law allows.
If you’re in the UK and believe we’ve mishandled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). If you’re in the EEA or elsewhere, you can contact your local data protection authority.
Children
SEAKIN’s waitlist is not directed at children. Please don’t sign up or submit information if you are under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SEAKIN grows. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll let you know by email.
